Electronic Prescription Service

Introduction

The NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) allows prescribers such as your local GP to send your prescription electronically to a dispenser (such as Emerald). This makes the prescribing process more efficient and convenient for patients, dispensers and the NHS.

The Benefits:

• Prescribers can process prescriptions efficiently and reduce the amount of time needed to deal with prescription queries.
• Dispensers (such as Emerald) can reduce the use of paper, improve stock control, and provide a more efficient service to patients and the NHS.
• EPS can help reduce the risk of losing prescriptions that normally would be collected in person or sent in the post.
